PAG News: Network Architecture, Operations and Policy Advisory Group Update (August 2013)
The Network Architecture, Operations and Policy Program Advisory Group (NAOPpag) met earlier this month, where the group discussed the formation of a Future Peering Service Peering Committee to make recommendations on the Internet2 peering service. Pat Christian will be the chair of the group and the group expects to make a recommendation on the future service to the full NAOP by the end of 2013. The formation of the group was based on a recommendation from the NAOP TR-CPS Review Committee. The NAOP also considered a request from a vendor for membership in the NTAC. The NTAC has historically welcomed only University and regional network representatives and that will continue although, as has been the practice, vendors will be asked to join subcommittees, as appropriate.
Rob Vietzke, Internet2 VP, Network Services, reported that the Internet2 Board had held their annual budget meeting and approved a budget that includes substantial capital funding for network growth and 100G upgrades during 2014.
