Governance Update - AOAC (June '11)
The Architecture and Operations Advisory Council (AOAC) held calls on May11 and 25 and June 8. During the May 11 call, a brief BTOP project update was provided and there was an extended conversation on the Network Development and Deployment Initiative/Open Science, Scholarship and Services Exchange (NDDI/OS3E). A follow-up to that conversation was provided in the May 25 AOAC call when Eric Boyd, Internet2, and Matt Davy, Indiana University, joined. Matt described the latest innovations with OpenFlow and Eric talked about how OpenFlow is being used in NDDI/OS3E. They requested comments on the NDDI paper that is available online.
During the June 8 call, Internet2 staff led an Advanced Network and Network Services Leadership discussion including the topics of the network upgrade build progress, the IP network and MANLAN. The network upgrade is progressing on schedule. The IP network has been expanded with additional 10G between Chicago and Kansas City. The equipment at MANLAN has been upgraded to Ciena CoreDirectors to provide the community with enhanced services and greater port capacity.
Additionally, the Council decided, in addition to the public AOAC held at the Internet2 Member Meetings, they would hold public calls on July 13, 2011 and January 11, 2012. To join the July 13, 2011 call, visit this web site to find instructions.
