Governance Update - AOAC (October '11))
The Architecture and Operations Advisory Council (AOAC) met on October 4, 5 and 12. The October 4 meeting was held during the Fall Member Meeting and was open to the community. During this meeting, the AOAC reviewed their list of projects and accomplishments since the Spring Member Meeting, provided information regarding the network build including the completion of the world's first 100G transcontinental segment, had a demonstration of the Open Science, Scholarship and Services Exchange and invited the community to discuss the needs of the campuses, regionals and national and global partners for the new Internet2 network. The October 5 meeting was held during the Fall Member Meeting and the AOAC continued earlier conversations on Internet2 NET+ services. The Council had an extensive discussion regarding the future of the Internet2 network and how the new capabilities can be used by campuses, regionals and global partners for innovation as well as how to structure future service offerings to support community innovation and leadership. During the October 12 call, the AOAC reviewed the open and closed AOAC meetings held during the Fall Member Meeting and discussed promotions to incent utilization of the new wave capabilities.
