Arbor Networks, an Internet2 corporate sponsor, is helping a number of Internet2 members protect their networks from infrastructure threats. The company worked with Internet2 members Merit Network, Inc. and the University of Michigan in a three-year collaborative research effort to develop and test a flow-based system for detecting and resolving network anomalies. The resulting technology provides a response to a broad spectrum of security and operational threats, such as distributed denial of service attacks, peering instability, and routing attacks. Arbor's solutions are deployed in a number of Internet2 member networks, in the Abilene Network, and at the Research and Education Network Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC) at Indiana University's Advanced Network Management Lab.
