InCommon Updates - November 2017

Assurance Advisory Council Changes Announced

Some significant changes are coming for the InCommon Assurance Advisory Committee (AAC), including a name change and an expansion of membership. The AAC will become the Community Trust and Assurance Board (CTAB), with responsibility for assurance and the new Baseline Expectations for Trust in Federation. The CTAB is seeking nominations for new members (and self-nominations are welcome). More information is on the wiki, and you can send nominations to aac@incommon.org.

Research & Scholarship Category (R&S) - The R&S Category includes service providers that support research and scholarly activities such as virtual organizations and campus-based collaboration services. There are currently 78 InCommon Service Providers in the category. Participating Identity Providers agree to release a small set of attributes to the category. Each time a vetted Service Provider is added to the category, that SP receives the appropriate attributes. New R&S Service Providers since September 25, 2017:

There are 55 Identity Providers that support the international REFEDS R&S category (which is recommended) and an additional 83 IdPs release attributes to R&S SPs registered by InCommon.

Research & Scholarship IdPs - Nov 2017

SIRTFI - Thirteen InCommon identity providers have declared compliance with for SIRTFI (Security Incident Response Trust Framework for Federated Identity). (See the list.) Compliance means agreeing to a baseline set of security practices and including a security contact in metadata. https://refeds.org/sirtfi
