Internet2 Board of Trustees Establishes CEO Search Committee
This past fall, Dave Lambert informed the Board of Trustees that he will step down from the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Internet2 and retire from full-time professional activities. We thank him for his incredible service to our community.
The Board now begins the process of identifying a successor to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of the organization and ensuring a smooth transition. As such, a formal search committee has been established to help lead and conduct the search. The Board is committed to continuing Internet2’s long history of delivering mission-critical services to its members, including providing an advanced national network and seamless identity and access management services.
The search committee is being chaired by Patrick Gallagher, Vice-Chair of the Internet2 Board of Trustees and the Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh. The Search Committee members include:
- Rebecca Blank, Chancellor, University of Wisconsin-Madison (Trustee)
- John Evans, Chairman and CEO, Evans Communications Co. (Trustee)
- Tracy Futhey, Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, Duke (Trustee)
- Mike Norman, Director, San Diego Supercomputing Center (Trustee)
- Vinton Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist, Google
- Farnam Jahanian, Provost, Carnegie Mellon University
- Jen Leasure, President and CEO, The Quilt
- Christos Papadopoulos, Professor of Computer Science, Colorado State University
We have also retained Russell Reynolds Associates, a highly respected executive recruitment firm to assist with the search.
As the search goes forward, we will update you periodically about the search committee’s progress. We plan to engage the community in discussions about the strategic direction of Internet2 to not only inform the search process but also lay the groundwork for the next President and CEO.
Once again, on behalf of the Internet2 Board, we are grateful for Dave Lambert’s vital contributions to Internet2 and the global research and education community. We look forward to working with the community to ensure that we recruit a successor who will continue to foster the innovation, collaboration, and scientific discovery that has become the cornerstone of the Internet2 community, and has helped to revolutionize the research and learning environments in the national and global networking community.
