Group member engagement is the key to moving us forward. The community organizes itself in various ways, including the chartering of working groups and advisory groups. Developing best practices. Adopting and implementing new technology. Identifying challenges and figuring out ways to fill the gaps and meet the need. Audit & Finance Committee

Governance

The Audit and Finance Committee shall assist the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities relating to the accounting and financial reporting practices of the Corporation. It shall recommend annually to the Board the selection of independent public accountants to audit the books and accounts of the Corporation. It shall also act as a liaison between the Board of Trustees and the independent accountants; shall review with the independent accountants the audited financial statements of the Corporation prior to recommending their approval by the Board of Trustees; shall monitor the effectiveness of independent financial audits; shall inquire into the effectiveness of the Corporation’s management of financial and accounting functions, including its internal auditing methods; shall review the independent accountant’s recommendations to management relating to organization, internal control and financial operations; and shall have such other duties as may from time to time be directed by the Board of Trustees. eduroam Advisory Committee (eAC)

Advisory Group

To facilitate stronger and more responsive engagement with the eduroam community, Internet2 sought out knowledgable, motivated volunteers to form the eduroam Advisory Committee. The eduroam-US Advisory Committee (“eAC”) is intended to be an advisory body to the Internet2 Community Architecture Committee for Trust and Identity (CACTI). Its role is to help formulate strategies and practices for US and global research and education roaming networks, report any findings, and make recommendations to CACTI and Internet2. Metaverse Working Group

Working Group

Advances in immersive head mounted displays are driving us toward a liminal point in terms of adoption and utilization of virtual environments. These trends will have profound implications for the fundamental nature how we share information and collaborate. The research and education community is uniquely positioned to catalyze the creation of an open, interoperable, standards-based “Metaverse” of linked virtual environments that leverage these technologies. Standards exist today, but many unsolved problems remain in areas including security, identity, and distributed architecture.
