NAOP Report-June 2015

Jun 16, 2015, by Linda Roos
Tags: Network Architecture, Operations and Policy, Program Advisory Groups

The Network Architecture, Operations and Policy Program Advisory Group (NAOPpag) met in June of 2015. The group discussed the Internet2 operational network data that is currently available on public webpages and how to balance the community values of open access to and transparency of the data with protecting data that could be used for network attacks. A subcommittee of the NAOPpag will be convened to review currently available data and to determine whether to continue to allow open access, remove access, or restrict access to the individual data sets.

The NAOPpag, in conjunction with the External Relations Program Advisory Group, reviewed Internet2 comments to a Broadband Opportunity Council notice. The two PAGs discussed the comments and the NAOPpag provided suggestions to the document that was sent on June 10, 2015.

Additionally, the NAOPpag endorsed the report from the Layer 3 Community Group. The Layer 3 Community Group was charged with reviewed plans for Internet2 Layer 3 services created by the Internet2 engineering team based on recommendations from the Future Peering Framework Committee. The Layer 3 Community Group included Paul Schopis (co-chair), Pat Christian (co-chair), Jeff Bartig, Cas D'Angelo, John Dundas, Jorgen Qvist, Michael Sinatra, and Chris Spears.
