Internet2 and Microsoft Enhance NET+ Offerings
Over the last several months, based on feedback from the higher education community, Internet2 and Microsoft have worked to enhance the Internet2 NET+ programs offered by Microsoft. We are pleased to announce some of the changes and opportunities to the Internet2 community.
We have developed the Internet2 Microsoft Community, built on the Yammer platform, which is a resource for learning more about Microsoft services and the NET+ program while providing an opportunity for the higher education community and subject matter experts at Microsoft to interact. The online community is not intended to replace support institutions currently receive from their Microsoft TAM or Account teams. To join the Internet2 Microsoft Community, please fill out contact information at: http://1drv.ms/1cYo953.
Monthly Internet2 Microsoft Community Calls
Launching next month, we will begin a series of monthly calls to bring together subject matter experts at Microsoft with the research and education community to discuss various topics. The community will drive the choice of topics. Internet2 and Microsoft will work to identify the right experts to be on these calls to provide informative and productive conversation. The meeting series will be announced to the Internet2 Microsoft Community noted above and is open to all Internet2 members and participants in the NET+ Azure and NET+ Office 365 program.
NET+ Azure for University Faculty and Researchers
Microsoft and Internet2 will provide a series of presentations and workshops showcasing how university faculty and researchers utilize Azure through NET+. Some of these have already taken place over the past few years, hosted by Internet2 member campuses, and they will be continuing in the coming months. Ease of use, flexibility, speed to solution and extraordinary compute power will be highlighted as we explore existing capabilities, benefits and case studies. These sessions are designed for faculty, researchers and the IT decisions makers and practitioners who support the research and education community.
Additional dates and locations during the second half of 2015 will be announced on the community site.
NET+ Azure and NET+ Office 365 Programs
Both the NET+ Azure and NET+ Office 365 programs are in the NET+ "Early Adopter" phase and open to participants. With these new developments and enhancements, along with other planned improvements, we expect both to move to NET+ "General Availability" later this year.
