Network Architecture, Operations and Policy Program Advisory Group: October Summary

The Network Architecture, Operations and Policy Program Advisory Group (NAOPpag) met on October 8, 2014. In the fall of each year, the Internet2 Board considers priorities and projects for the coming year. As a part of the process of Internet2 staff providing information to the Board, the PAGs are queried about projects and priorities that they see as important for Internet2 staff and the Board to consider. Last year, the Board articulated strategies for 2015 and Internet2 staff will continue to work on those strategies in 2016 with some small tweaks. The PAG discussed the strategies and supported this direction.

Additionally, Paul Schopis provided an update on the NTAC face-to-face meeting that occurred in September in Minneapolis. The group discussed the upcoming Technology Exchange.

Recently a subcommittee of the NAOPpag reviewed several policies including the Network Flow Data Privacy Policy as well as security and policy issues related to Aggregator/Connector Flow Data Views; the headroom policy and the business continuity policy. The committee made recommendations for minor changes but in large part indicated that the policies are satisfactory in their current form. A committee to continue the discussion regarding Network Flow Data Privacy Policy as well as security and policy issues related to Aggregator/Connector Flow Data Views will commence in November.
