Internet2 Community Members:

I am pleased to announce the launch of the new Internet2 community web site. The launch is the culmination of nearly three years of work informed by a series of community-focused research efforts on the wide-ranging information needs of Internet2 members. You told us what matters and your responses were the driving force behind the new design and content.

This is the first redesign in seven years and structural redesign in over 10 years. Virtually every piece of content in the site is either new or updated, and embedded in a community-driven Information Architecture for easier navigation and access. We are excited that it incorporates a modern Content Management System that will enable much more effective site management and timely posting of important community information. Though the launch is just the beginning, and the site must continue to evolve to meet rapidly changing needs, we are hopeful you will find it a well-designed information platform. We view the new site as a key resource for extending our community’s heritage of member-led, member-focused technology innovation and discovery.

STAY TUNED to Internet2 Facebook and Twitter pages over the coming weeks and months as we highlight new site features regularly.

A sampling includes:

 · A New Vision & Initiatives menu offering strategic perspectives that can help leaders further their organizations with advanced technologies like cloud and trust applications from the Internet2 NET+ Initiative.

 · Enhanced visibility for case studies and presentations. These are some of our community’s most valuable assets; they show how members are implementing innovative initiatives and using community technology.

 · User sign in utilizing your organization’s federated user credentials if your organization is an InCommon participant. If not, you can create a local SiteID, which will allow you to comment on blog posts, create a personal profile, or (in the future) use other local Internet2 services and subscribe to specific types of communications most pertinent to you.

Content migration and development will continue past the launch, so be sure to visit often! As we are fine-tuning the site, we appreciate your patience and are open to your comments and feedback. We hope you enjoy the new features and content, and we are very excited to welcome you to your new online home.
