Sr. Vice President Shel Waggener To Speak June 26 at KINBER 2013 Member Meeting and June 27 at Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges Conference
NET+, Regional Partner Program and Identity Issues To Be Addressed
As summer kicks off, Internet2’s executives continue to visit education leaders around the country. Shelton Waggener, Internet2’s senior vice president, will address hundreds of Pennsylvania executives in education, healthcare, economic development, and technology in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, June 26 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the KINBER 2013 Member Meeting.
Shel will provide an introduction to Internet2 NET+ and Internet2’s regional partner program. He also will describe how teamwork among universities, vendors and Internet2 dedicated to the widespread adoption of federated cloud services will benefit the global research and education community. NET+ provides simple, consistent and streamlined access to the highest value cloud services, offered at the best possible terms and conditions, to all participating institutions.
On June 27 from 11 am to noon, Shel will speak at the Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges Conference (CLAC) in Worcester, Massachusetts at the College of the Holy Cross: “Why the confluence of Identity Management, NET+ and Internet2 matters to the Liberal Arts.”
Shel will talk about InCommon, the identity landscape in higher education, and the Internet2 NET+ initiative “Cloud Proud.” Identity and support for above the cloud services are two critical components of information technology in higher education whether at a research university or liberal arts college. Shel’s presentation will help connect the Internet2 vision to CLAC and the liberal arts constituency it serves.
Following Shel’s remarks, he will be joined by Sam Ottenhoff, vice president and chief technology officer of Longsight and John O’Keefe, associate vice president and chief information officer of Lafayette College, for a panel discussion and Q&A.
Keep an eye out for Shel’s presentations if you are attending either of these two conferences. To learn more about Internet2 NET+ click here.
