Wanted: A Few Good Engineers for an Layer3 Architecture Discussion

On Tuesday afternoon's monthly call with the NTAC, I  solicited volunteers to collect member feedback on Layer3 architecture futures. We've all had a number of good conversations over the past few months around the ability of the IP network to provide adequate headroom and growth capability for those that intend to connect with 100G of potential bandwidth via their AL2S interconnect. Those conversations have been useful, and it's time to create an actionable plan that optimally leverages the community’s investment in the Network.

The goal here is to have a set of phone calls over the next several weeks to iterate back and forth on architectures that provide smart growth capabilities for the IP network.   If you're able to commit 4 or 5 hours over the next three weeks for phone meetings, and are interested in helping to engineer a solution, please try and let us know by noon on Thursday, February 5th. (e-mail chrobb at internet2.edu) You'll be placed on a mailing list and asked to respond to some surveys for a few calls the following week. If you can't let me know by noon, don't let that dissuade you from joining the conversation! I'll have material to share by the end of the week to help provide some context to the discussion next week. Ultimately we want to have an agreed upon and actionable strategy by the end of February 2013.

Thank you, and I look forward to great discussion.
