CISCO TELEPRESENCE EXCHANGE CAPABILITIES

As previously announced, Internet2 is adding Cisco TelePresence to the portfolio of supported endpoints alongside the large-scale community deployment of H.323 and SIP units. Today we are pleased to announce that connecting to this exchange for Cisco TelePresence will be free for both Internet2 members and non-members. Institutions may connect an unlimited number of CTS endpoints to the Internet2 Exchange, as long as they are aggregated through their own infrastructure.

NEW VIRTUAL ROOM PRICING

Internet2 has offered interoperable (?) Virtual Room pricing for quite some time. Today we are pleased to announce simplified pricing models for both Dedicated and Scheduled Virtual Rooms. These rooms are interoperable with standards-based H.323, SIP, and TIP endpoints, are available in a variety of sizes, and are hosted on dedicated infrastructure so that you can be sure they are available when you need them. Please visit http://commons.internet2.edu/virtual-meeting-rooms.html for more information.

NEW ENDPOINT REGISTRATION CAPABILITIES

While we recommend that participants invest in their own institutional call management infrastructure, we recognize this is not always feasible. Accordingly, registration of endpoints directly into the interoperable call infrastructure is available. Video Services participation is required for these services, with the first ten endpoint registrations free. These endpoints can be H.323 today, or Cisco TelePresence available in May.
