NSF announces the Campus Cyberinfrastructure-Network Infrastructure and Engineering Program (CC-NIE)
I wanted to point to a recent solicitation by the NSF that has many synergies with the Internet2 community's efforts to create a nationwide platform for innovation. We encourage campuses to review this solicitation. Further information regarding Internet2's perspective on this solicitation will be posted in the near future.
The CC-NIE program is focused on campus-level network service improvements to support data transfer and movement. It also invests in Network Integration activities to improve performance, reliability, and predictability for science applications and distributed research projects. The deadline of May 30, 2012 refers to proposals of up to two years submitted by universities and two- and four-year colleges for projects addressing Data Driven Networking and Infrastructure for the Campus and Researcher (with total funding of $500,000) and proposals for Network Integration and Applied Innovation (with total funding of $1,000,000). More information on the solicitation can be found at: http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=504748.
