Baseline Expectations Milestone - All Identity Providers Meet the Expectations
The InCommon Baseline Expectations for Trust in Federation program has reached a milestone, with all 536 active identity providers meeting the requirements. Of the 4,910 entities in the InCommon Federation (the total of identity providers and service providers), just 20 do not meet Baseline Expectations. InCommon staff have been working with the organizations that control these 20 entities to meet Baseline.
On July 16, InCommon operations removed nine dormant or inactive entities from the metadata that did not meet BE. We worked with the owners of those entities and confirmed that the removal would not cause any service interruptions.
The community has worked at adopting Baseline Expectations since February 2018. This program increases trust in the InCommon Federation by assuring that all organizations meet certain minimum requirements. The Community Trust and Assurance Board (CTAB) developed the program and has guided its implementation.
CTAB is considering adding elements to the Baseline Expectations requirements and has developed a brief survey
