Rise Up at PEARC19
Want to learn more about machine learning and artificial intelligence? Join me (and many Campus Champions) at PEARC19 – The Rise of the Machines (Learning) on July 28-Aug. 1, 2019 in Chicago, Ill. The event will also explore advanced research computing practices and experiences, which includes modeling, simulation, and data-intensive computing.
As a member of the PEARC Steering Committee, we strive to enable a series of events that brings together the growing research computing community to discuss challenges, opportunities, and solutions that enable computational and data-intensive research.
I will participate in a variety of sessions, including Campus Research Computing Consortium (CaRCC) Futures & Sustainability Town Hall; Campus Champions: Building and Sustaining a Thriving Community of Practice Around Research Computing and Data; and Leveraging a Research IT Maturity Model for Strategic Decision Making workshop. Internet2 is one of many sponsors showing their support for the HPC and advanced digital research community. I hope to see you there!
Until then, here is more information about PEARC19:
Registration for PEARC19 will increase on June 24, 2019 so don’t wait!! For more details or to register visit: https://www.pearc19.pearc.org/registration
While you are registering, don’t forget to sign up for one of our two special networking events offered on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Attendees will have a choice between a baseball game (Chicago White Sox vs. the New York Mets) or a riverboat cruise (as noted by one TripAdvisor reviewer, "If you only do one thing...this should be it!"). These special events are a great value and will provide a wonderful opportunity for you to network with your colleagues.
The online program is now available on our website and we will continue to make additions to the program to help with your planning. Stay tuned!
We are very excited to welcome our two keynote speakers: Rick Stevens, from Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago, who will be presenting on "AI for Science" and Jim Kurose, from the National Science Foundation, who will be presenting on "NSF/CISE and Advanced Cyberinfrastructure: An Update and Look at, and over, the Horizon." Learn more about the event’s speakers. We will also welcome plenary speaker Patricia (Trish) A. Damkroger from Intel Corporation, one of our platinum exhibitors, presenting on “Redefining Today’s HPC.”
