Internet2 NET+ at Educause Security Professionals 2019
One of the many benefits of working at Internet2 and with higher education is working directly with our great community!
After a very busy week in Chicago at EDUCAUSE Security Professionals Conference (SPC) and the REN-ISAC Member Meeting, I’m inspired by discussions that are paving the way for new ideas and future collaborations! It was great to talk with so many people. I heard about how some of the programs I work on are impacting campuses and was very interested to hear suggestions for improvements.
I participated again in the SPC program committee this year and have several times over the last 10-plus years. Watching the meetings team at EDUCAUSE and Internet2, I’m familiar with the hard work that is put into making events so valuable for the community.
The EDUCAUSE team did a great job! SPC was a sold out event and in my opinion, one of the best SPCs in memory. There were many sessions I couldn’t make that I’m looking forward to reviewing the presentation slides from the online agenda when I get home.
This year at SPC was a particularly busy year for Internet2 in support of higher education information security and involvement in sessions:
- Strategies for Streamlining Security Assessments Using the HECVAT (pre-conference workshop)
- MFA Usage in Higher Education
- What the HECVAT! Driving the Winds of Change
- SIEM Usage in Higher Education
- EDUCAUSE, Internet2, and REN-ISAC's Adventures in Cybersecurity
Hope to see you at a future event—Technology Exchange in New Orleans, LA, from December 9-12, 2019, or SPC next year in Bellevue, WA, from April 21-23, 2020. If you have questions or would like to engage on a community project, please reach out to me.
