Expanding Capacity to Dual-Homed Connectors
Recently, Jim Stewart, CTO from Utah Education and Telehealth Network (UETN), approached Internet2 with a request to work together on a solution for increasing capacity to meet the expanding research needs on a campus in his region. Jim asked for 100G of Layer 2/3 capacity but his budget was less than the fee for a 100G connection and he specified that he would prefer to keep the funds in the community. Because UETN was dual-homed already, Internet2 created a solution allowing a third 100G connection for a reduced fee.
We are extending this solution of a third 100G connection for the reduced to any connector that was dual-homed at the end of 2018. This will be available to all dual-homed connectors until the new service model is implemented in 2020.
We are grateful to Jim for working with us on a solution to meet the needs of his regional and that could be helpful to other community members. If you are interested in learning more about the third 100G for a reduced fee or would like to work on a solution together, please send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org.
