NET+ AWS Reaches Next Discount Tier, Opens AWS Organizations Pilot

The NET+ AWS advisory board and team is excited to share a few new developments for the program.
As of this January, the NET+ AWS subscribers cloud usage has propelled the NET+ AWS program to its next tier of discounting. Subscribing accounts will receive a 5% discount on all AWS spending. This is in addition to the data egress waiver discount that is a signature achievement of the Internet2 community’s engagement with the team at AWS.
It’s clear that AWS Organizations is a key part of a campus’ AWS strategy going forward and enabling this functionality has been a key request of NET+ AWS program participants. To that end, Internet2, in coordination with DLT Solutions, has begun an AWS Organizations pilot with four Internet2 member campuses. These schools (Boston University, Case Western, Indiana University, and the University of Maryland - Baltimore County) are leading the way in designing a scalable AWS Organizations model for the broader community that will allow DLT Solutions to offer AWS Organization to all program subscribers who present an expressed need. After the successful completion of the pilot, the advisory board will document the process and outcomes and Internet2 and DLT Solutions will invite NET+ AWS subscribers to join.
Additionally, we are announcing the alpha of new subscriber account request portal. This new portal will refine the account request process for campus administrators, present an updated design, and improve on the existing support for InCommon federated accounts. The new Portal will complement strides already made in billing and cost management for campus administrators with the launch of CloudCheckr for campus leads last fall. Campus leads at subscribing institutions can enable CloudCheckr access today
We are excited by the rapid progress made by the NET+ AWS team and campuses that participated in the pilot over the last few months and look forward to announcing future developments!
