It is now possible to use Cloud Connect, which uses the Internet2 Network along with your regional’s infrastructure, to reach Microsoft Azure Express Route, Amazon AWS Direct Connect, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Dedicated Interconnect in each of three cities across the U.S. The cities are Ashburn, Chicago and Dallas (see map.)

There are plans to extend Cloud Connect for the three services (Azure ExpressRoute, AWS Direct Connect, GCP Dedicated Interconnect) to the west coast by the end of 2018.

Each user is able to implement either a Layer 2 (see diagram at Service Cloud Connect) or Layer 3 (see diagram at Service Cloud Connect) solution.

With Cloud Connect, we take care of the network portions of the solution and all you need is your cloud account with the cloud vendor. There is no additional fee to use Cloud Connect through June 30, 2019.

To use Cloud Connect to access Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute, Amazon AWS Direct Connect or Google Cloud Platform Dedicated Interconnect, please send a note to cloudconnect_request@internet2.edu.
