Internet2 Launches First Phase of Collaboration Platform
Internet2 has completed the transition of the wiki to the new domain, spaces.at.internet2.edu, which is the first entree on the new Collaboration Platform menu, which will provide access to Internet2 and InCommon services for our community. The icing on the cake is that we’re now using three components of the InCommon Identity and Access Management software suite powered by Internet2 as part of the platform, including the TIER containers for both COmanage and Grouper:
- We’re using the Shibboleth service provider for the Collaboration Platform apps, including Confluence
- COmanage is now the person registry for our instance of Confluence
- Grouper will manage groups and permissions for the various wiki spaces and pages
A joint team of the Internet2 Technical Services Group and Trust and Identity staff worked on the development and deployment of the TIER components necessary to lay the foundation of a community facing collaboration environment.
The next part of the project includes expanding the use of Grouper to provide self-service for working group chairs and others to manage resources and permissions in the wiki, as well as with Sympa email lists.
