Research & Scholarship Category (R&S) - The R&S Category includes service providers that support research and scholarly activities such as virtual organizations and campus-based collaboration services. There are currently 79 InCommon Service Providers in the category. Participating Identity Providers agree to release a small set of attributes to the category. Each time a vetted Service Provider is added to the category, that SP receives the appropriate attributes.

There are 65 Identity Providers that support the international REFEDS R&S category (which is recommended) and an additional 81 IdPs release attributes to R&S SPs registered by InCommon.

SIRTFI - Thirty-two InCommon identity providers have declared compliance with SIRTFI (Security Incident Response Trust Framework for Federated Identity). This compares to just 13 as of the end of last November. (See the list.) Compliance means agreeing to a baseline set of security practices and including a security contact in metadata. https://refeds.org/sirtfi
