Enterprise Access Connection

In response to community requests for broader usage policies on the Layer 3 service, Internet2 is pleased to introduce Enterprise Access. This service is initially offered to Internet2 connectors with two connections. One of the connections will be termed "legacy" and will continue to allow up to 20G of TR-CPS. The other connection will be termed "enterprise access" and will initially allow up to 50G of TR-CPS.

In addition to up to 50G of TR-CPS, the enterprise access connection can be used for any Layer3 service including for DDoS clean traffic, cloud access, R&E routes, etc. While the legacy connections have been engineered to be redundant such that, if there is an outage, traffic will be re-routed, the new enterprise access connections will trade the cost of some level of redundancy for the cost of increased capacity. This new approach should be a good fit for connectors looking for more capacity to TR-CPS who desire this tradeoff.

For those connectors interested in this service, we will work with them to build a joint understanding of the resiliency strategy for each connection. (Many regionals would be able to handle that on a regular internet connection or on their Internet2 legacy connection.)

We would like to work with a few regionals to pilot Enterprise Access beginning in 2018. Please contact networkdevelopment@internet2.edu if you are interested.
