Called the TIER Campus Success Program, the idea came out of a spring TIER mid-program investor survey intended to discover if any adjustments were needed in the TIER Program. While the results were positive, the investors identified adoption assistance and education as being significant gaps. The TIER Community Investor Council worked with Internet2 to reallocate funds to address the gap and the TIER Campus Success Program was begun.

Modeled after two previous effective middleware adoption programs that Internet2 ran under the National Science Foundation grants (Extending the Reach, Early Adopter Programs), the goal of the Campus Success Program is to leverage the power of collaboration and community. This approach focuses on enabling colleagues to help each other and help build a sustainable community effort. The participants share what they’ve learned by contributing deliverables and artifacts that other institutions can use. Participating campuses will submit a case study and relevant artifacts back to the community (a requirement of participation) and also will work together on consolidating lessons learned in guidance documents on key shared areas of interest.

To select the best team of participants for the program, Internet2 released a Call for Participation in late summer. Campuses wishing to participate submitted a short proposal along with project plans outlining how they intended to implement one or more TIER Components. In reviewing the submissions, shared areas of work and investigation became apparent, and they aligned well with the Spring TIER Investor Survey results.

An announcement will go out shortly announcing the participating schools and their projects, as well as ways that the community can follow progress of projects of interest. We’re happy that we were able to accommodate all eligible campuses that applied! Complete information is in the Campus Success Program wiki space.
