RECINNS Requirements Gathering Summary Released
Last year, during the 2016 Technology Exchange, a call for papers was announced. That call for papers requested that the Internet2 community provide their perspectives on the investments to be made on national-footprint network services as we plan for the next generation of community infrastructure investment.
The authors of the papers were invited to the Research and Education Community Investment in National-footprint Network Services (RECINNS) workshop in January, 2017 in Tempe, AZ.
During that workshop, two working groups were formed: one focused on supporting the academic enterprise and the other focused on supporting network research and data-intensive science. The working groups met throughout the spring of 2017, discussing requirements for the next generation of infrastructure required to meet the needs of the academic enterprise and research communities.
During the 2017 Internet2 Global Summit in April, the combined working groups discussed their draft report of requirements. The final report of the two working groups is published here.

The next steps for the planning of the next generation of infrastructure include involving the community in Proof of Concept projects. We will be providing more information about this soon.
