Internet2 and Google Cloud Platform: Working Together
Google Cloud recently announced that it has joined Internet2 as an Industry Member. Internet2 and Google Cloud will be working with the community to identify a select number of use cases to refine further. With community feedback, we'll explore how Google Cloud Platform can better serve universities. This work focuses only on Google Cloud Platform for the foreseeable time; it does not include G Suite for Education or projects related to Google's many other products.
Google Cloud Platform is a suite of over 40 tools that can power university research and infrastructure. Some tools that may be featured in university projects include BigQuery to analyze data, Cloud Machine Learning for machine learning, Cloud Vision API for image interpretation, the Translate API to create multilingual apps and translate text into other languages programmatically, and App Engine to build and run applications.
Be sure to visit the Internet2 booth (#2401) and the Google booth (#4272) at Supercomputing, November 14-17 in Salt Lake City and learn more about Internet2 at SC!
As with all initiatives, Internet2 will be working with the community to gather input on Google Cloud Platform. If you're interested in participating, please indicate your interest. A webinar is being planned and specific projects that fit identified use cases in the coming weeks will be solicited, so stay tuned!
