A Cuban Delegation Visit with Internet2 in DC
February 4th was an exciting day for Internet2 and particularly the Global team. At our Internet2 offices in Washington DC, we were able to meet and get to know our colleagues from the Cuban National Research and Education Network RedUNIV, which stands for the Cuban National Network of Universities. The visit, organized in partnership with the Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC), was the first meeting between Internet2 and the Cuban network organization, although some of you may have been lucky enough to catch the video update from Cuba during the international update session at last year's Technology Exchange.
In addition to the participation of a wide range of departments within Internet2, the meeting was attended by representatives from NSRC, Florida International University and RedCLARA, the Latin American regional network. During the meeting, participants learned about the history of the Cuban network, as well as its most recent developments, and discussed opportunities for collaboration between our two networks. It was fascinating to hear about the continual progress being made towards the network's domestic development and plans for international connectivity. We're looking forward to increasing and solidifying our collaboration, particularly by supporting the many cultural, artistic and educational endeavors between our two countries.
