Member Representative Roles
The Executive Liaison serves as the main contact for your organization (may be the CIO) and is responsible for gathering and disseminating general information about Internet2 activities to your community and assigning the other Internet2 representative roles. The Executive Liaison is ultimately responsible for payment of dues and assessments and serves as the official voting representative for the member organization.
Chief Information Officer (CIO)
The Chief Information Officer, Vice President of Information Technology, or the most senior technical leader at an organization.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Chief Executive Officer or President of the organization.
Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
The person charged with defining and implementing the technology strategy and vision for the organization.
The Executive Research contact is the Vice President, Dean, or Provost responsible for policy and execution of sponsored research.
The Public Relations/Communications contact is responsible for coordinating and communicating Internet2 activities within your organization. This may include press releases, electronic and print publications, and using the Internet2 logo on internal printed material. The representative may post messages to the Internet2 news mailing list and may disseminate messages within the organization.
The Government Relations contact is responsible for tracking government related Internet initiatives and evaluating their relevance to activities within your organization. Other responsibilities include disseminating messages from the member update mailing lists.
The Network Operations contact serves as the main contact for operational matters for the campus or regional. The network operations contact is responsible for the resolution of problems involving the operation of the network, ensures optimal day-to-day performance of the member Internet2 Network connection and is the primary contact for the Internet2 Network Operations Center.
Network Operations Center (NOC)
The Network Operations Center (NOC) contact is the general email address for the campus or regional NOC.
The Network Engineering contact serves as the lead engineer for your organization and provides key leadership on matters related to organization’s infrastructure. Responsibilities include having a detailed understanding of how the organization’s connection to Internet2 has been implemented, whether directly or via a regional, and also understands how any Internet2 services including network-related services as well as NET+ services are configured and implemented.
Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Engineer
The CI Engineer serves as the campus or regional Cyberinfrastructure Engineer with technical expertise, leadership, and engagement at the campus or regional level in successful research and educational pursuits for the institution. Responsibilities include ensuring that networking and distributed computing resources are adequate to meet the needs of campus researchers, assisting researchers with the technical aspects of making use of those resources and connecting researchers to others in the community to meet research agendas.
The security contact oversees IT security matters at the campus/regional. Responsibilities include setting an IT security strategy for the organization, resolving IT security issues and contributing to IT security best practices.
