Barbara Nanzig is Chief of Staff for Internet2, and serves as the Secretary to the Board of Trustees. In 2001 she helped to develop the Michigan Information Technology Center (MITC) (www.michitc.org) and serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors for the MITC Foundation. Prior to joining Internet2 in 1997, she worked at the University of Michigan in the Academic Outreach area and served as the Executive Assistant to the Vice Provost for Information Technology. During her10 years at the University of Michigan she was a member of the senior IT staff in the Vice Provost’s office and developed the University Faculty Exploratory designed to assist faculty’s use of information technology in the classroom. Her background includes work in information technology, facilities, development, and student affairs. Before returning to Michigan with her husband Tom, Barb held positions at Carnegie Mellon University, Longwood University, The College of William and Mary and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Barb has been active in the development of a number of community organizations, including restoring a three county regional Red Cross Chapter serving South Central Virginia. At present, she is a member of the Ann Arbor IT Zone Executive Board and a Board member of the Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum.
Barb earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Science from Longwood University at Virginia.
