Working Group Roles & Responsibilities: Liaison
The Internet2 Liaison is responsible for the activities of WGs in their specific topic area; e.g., Ken Klingenstein is the Internet2 Liaison for middleware-related WGs. The Liaison:
- Creates WGs as needed or requested following guidelines for effective staffing of key roles, identification of deliverables, and definition of life span.
- Ensures WGs are adequately staffed and have appropriate and effective chairs.
- Ensures WGs conduct work on a regular basis and are successful at reaching their stated goals.
- Submits written reports quarterly to membership on progress of each WG within area.
- Participates in work of WGs on a regular basis through conference calls or on-site meetings.
- Annually reviews each WG and “defends” its continuance.
- Shuts down WGs upon completion of their work, and prepares final report to members and senior staff.
- Works with Internet2 communications area to publicize significant WG milestones or accomplishments through channels such as the Internet2 web space and news releases.
- Develops annual budgets for WGs to ensure they are funded appropriately.
- Reviews WGs’ intellectual property right specification for each project.
- Provides first line support to WG Chair with regards to intellectual property.
