Configuring Windows Messenger for SIP.edu
Windows Messenger 5.1 is available for download at:
www.microsoft.com/downloads/
- Start Windows Messenger
- Select Tools > Options...
- Select the Accounts tab

- Under ".NET Passport Account" uncheck the "My contacts include
users of .NET Messenger Service" box
- Under "SIP Communications Service Account" check the "My
contacts include users of a SIP Communications Service" box
- Enter your SIP.edu address (email address) in the "Sign-in
name:" box - eg: guy@sipedu-univ10.tamu.edu
- Click on "Advanced"
- Select "Configure settings"
- Enter your SIP server address in the "Server name or IP
address:" box - eg. sipedu-univ10.tamu.edu
- Select "Connect using: UDP"
- Click "OK" to close Configuration windows

- Click on "Click here to sign in"

- Enter your SIP authentication User name and Password and click
"OK"

- Congratulations!!! Now you are ready to make and receive SIP calls
Notes:
- Windows Firewall may ask you if you want to trust this program
- you will need to allow this.
- If you get the .NET Passport Wizard - just click on
"Cancel".
