Internet2 Professional Services was created to address our members' need to cost effectively and efficiently manage their optical networks. We offer a complete suite of customized professional services through expanded agreements with Level 3, Ciena, and Fujitsu to assist universities and regional networks with planning, installing, managing, and operating their networking infrastructure.

Internet2 Professional Services has leveraged its position within the community to negotiate very attractive and exclusive rates for professional services. A complete suite of customized professional services for Internet2 connectors and members includes:

• Network operations assistance, including traffic analysis, software and hardware upgrades, management and maintenance
• Voice and data networks management – improve the quality of service offerings, reduce costs, and increase interoperability
• Upgrades of existing legacy networks (Frame Relay, ATM or Private Line) to IP or Ethernet
• Consultation on network architecture, route design, optical equipment specifications, transmission engineering, and fiber characterizations
• Build-out logistics including: detailed site engineering and installation prep, site and route staging and test and turn-up services, route commissioning, as-built documentation
• Consultation on network operations center or data center implementation
• Staffing for equipment and fiber maintenance in remote locations not readily accessible

Negotiated rates for these professional services are lower than standard educational rates and significantly under current market pricing. Rates can be tailored to fit individual customer needs, allowing services as a bundle/package or individually itemized.
