Globus is software-as-a-service for moving, synchronizing, and sharing
big data. Globus enables research computing centers to provide a campus
data service to researchers and administrators, using existing storage
systems and network infrastructure. It offers researchers an easy way to
move data securely and reliably among lab servers, campus clusters, and
external systems, and to share that data with collaborators at other
institutions--without requiring additional, expensive cloud storage
systems. Globus makes it possible to take advantage of high speed
networks and can deliver end-to-end file transfer throughput that far
exceeds traditional tools like scp and ftp. The service is developed and
operated by the Computation Institute at the University of Chicago and
Argonne National Laboratory. Globus is a non-profit service provider to
the non-profit research community.
