Before joining Internet2, Kevin served nine years as the vice provost for Information Technology and chief information officer at Penn State. His responsibilities included the leadership and operation of the university’s largest IT organization, and for creating success for more than seventy other IT organizations that supported Penn State’s twenty-four campus locations. During that time he led transformational efforts in service management, data center management, and strategic planning.

Throughout Kevin’s twenty-seven years at Penn State, he held many different positions. He started by providing support for Penn State faculty and graduate students in their usage of National Science Foundation supercomputer centers and emerging high-performance computing capabilities on campus. Over time, Kevin took on ever-increasing responsibilities beyond research, including the exploration of emerging technologies and the support of many non-academic services.

Prior to his time at Penn State, Kevin worked as an engineer and programmer at the Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, supporting research in the departments of pulmonary medicine and neurology.

Kevin graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics and an option in Biomedical Engineering. For twenty-five years, he also served as the State College Area High School ladies varsity soccer coach. In recognition of his efforts, he was named the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association Class AAA Coach of the Year in 2001.
