Roles of Contacts

When a prospective Internet2 Network Connector or Participant completes an application, they are asked to designate an Executive, Technical, and Billing Contact for their organization. Here are descriptions of those roles, and also the associated Internet2 staff contact:

Descriptions of Internet2 Network Contact Roles

Executive Contact
The executive contact serves as the primary administrative contact for purposes of their organization’s Internet2 Network connection. The executive contact is responsible for ensuring that their organization has adequate resources to support continuous and optimal connectivity to the Internet2 Network. The executive contact also assigns the other Internet2 Network contact roles for the organization. Each executive contact shall be responsible for payment of annual Internet2 Network connection, participation, and/or SEGP fees as applicable.

Technical Contact
The technical contact serves as the lead engineering point for an organization’s connection to the Internet2 Network. The technical contact is responsible for the resolution of problems involving the operation of the network. The technical contact ensures optimal day-to-day performance of their Internet2 Network connection and is the primary contact for the Internet2 Network NOC.

Billing Contact
The billing contact receives the invoices for the Internet2 Network connection, participation, and/or SEGP fees and is authorized to process payment for these fees.
