Participate in the Internet2 Middleware Initiative

The Internet2 Middleware Initiative welcomes and encourages your participation in our activities, and you can get involved at whatever level you choose. Participation in the Internet2 Middleware Initiative can take a variety of forms. You can contribute to the technical development, outreach and education, and testing activities, as you are inclined. To find out more about the overall Internet2 Middleware Initiative, please contact us.

The foundation of the Internet2 Middleware Initiative's work is the research done, and deliverables produced, by our working groups. Working group members are from the higher education, vendor, research, and government sectors, from both U.S. and international organizations. Institutions and individuals may also have valuable contributions that fall outside the current scope of the working groups. If you are interested in sharing such items, refer to Outreach and Education below.

Getting Involved With Our Working Groups and Software Development Projects

The Internet2 Middleware Initiative currently has several working groups focused on the development of schema, best practices documents, and software tools. Each working group has several mailing lists for news, announcements, user assistance, and development work. Please refer to their websites for further information:

Outreach and Education

The Internet2 Middleware Initiative's Outreach effort works to deliver high-quality educational products and services to inform, guide, and assist the higher education and research communities in their research, evaluation, and deployments of core middleware. The Campus Architecture Middleware Planning (CAMP) Workshop series is one example of our Education activities.

In addition, if you are interested in contributing case studies, recommended/best practices, or resources relating to an implementation -- such as technical or policy aspects or project deployment plans -- please contact us.

Software and Documentation Contributions

Internet2's working groups are community efforts, and produce software, documentation, directory schema, and recommended/best practices. If you are interested in contributing, please review the Internet2 Intellectual Property Framework and contact us.
