Roles of Internet2 Member Representatives
When a prospective member completes an application, they are required to list the various membership representatives who are taking the lead on various Internet2 related projects in the organization. A description of the roles are below.
Description of Member Representative Roles
Executive Liaison
The executive liaison serves as the main contact for the member organization. The executive liaison is responsible for gathering and disseminating general information about Internet2 activities to their community and assigning the other Internet2 representative roles for the organization. Each executive liaison is ultimately responsible for payment of dues and assessments and serves as the official voting representative for the member organization.

Membership Billing Contact
The billing contact receives the invoices for Internet2 membership
dues and Internet2 Network fees as necessary

Engineering Representative
The engineering representative serves as the lead engineer
for the member organization. Responsibilities include: disseminating
messages from the engineering mailing lists, attending tech-related
Internet2 conferences, and providing key infrastructure support

End-to-End Performance Representative
The End-to-End Performance Initiative Representative has a
working relationship with majority of the campus researchers
and has responsibilities in insuring a supportive campus infrastructure
for researchers. They understand the demands of technology
support for researchers. Responsibilities include disseminating
messages from the End-to-End Performance Initiative mailing
lists, identifying researchers and technology support personnel
who are interested in collaborating with other Internet2 members
to improve the end-to-end performance of high performance
applications.

Applications Representative
The applications representative serves as the lead applications
developer for the member organization. Responsibilities include
disseminating messages from the applications mailing lists,
attending tech-related Internet2 conferences, and collaborating
with other Internet2 members to develop leading applications.

Middleware Representative
The middleware contact is defined as the information technology
architect who is responsible for campus-wide authentication
and authorization, directory services, software infrastructure,
and distributed computing.

Government Relations
The government relations representative is responsible for
tracking government-related Internet initiatives while evaluating
their relevance to activities within the organization. Other
responsibilities include disseminating messages from the member
update mailing lists.

Public Affairs
The public affairs representative is responsible for help
promoting Internet2 activities within the member organization.
This may include press releases, electronic and print publications
and uses of the Internet2 logo on internal printed material.
The representative may post messages to the Internet2 news
mailing list and may disseminate messages within the organization.

Internet2 Network Executive Contact
The executive contact serves as the primary administrative contact for purposes of their organization’s Internet2 Network connection. The executive contact is responsible for ensuring that their organization has adequate resources to support continuous and optimal connectivity to the Internet2 Network. The executive contact also assigns the other Internet2 Network contact roles for the organization. Each executive contact shall be responsible for payment of annual Internet2 Network connection, participation, and/or SEGP fees as applicable.

Internet2 Network Technical Contact
The technical contact serves as the lead engineering point for an organization’s connection to the Internet2 Network. The technical contact is responsible for the resolution of problems involving the operation of the network. The technical contact ensures optimal day-to-day performance of their Internet2 Network connection and is the primary contact for the Internet2 Network NOC.
