Membership Levels & Categories
The Board of Trustees at its July, 2009, meeting approved a revised membership structure for Internet2. The new model put forth by the Membership Committee of the Board recommended the changes to the Internet2 membership structure because:
- The current “one size fits all” fee structure is a deterrent to existing and prospective members.
- The practice of having separate billings for membership dues and network participation fees is difficult to understand and to administer.
- The lack of a uniform application of Sponsored Participant guidelines over Internet2’s history has led to the inconsistent assignment of connected organizations.
- The absence of different levels of participation has excluded many SEGP and smaller organizations from Internet2 membership.
