The development team for Shibboleth Single Sign-on and Federating Software has made significant progress this year on version 2.0, a major release due out in early 2008. A CAMP Shibboleth Workshop in June 2007 offered attendees case studies of the three ways campuses are using the software: enterprise web single sign-on (SSO), web SSO with attribute delivery, and enabling federating relationships. Adoption of the software is increasing as evidenced by 12 countries standardizing on Shibboleth as their technology of choice for their national R&E federations and the emerging international effort to integrate them, as well as the increasing number of requests for federated collaborative applications.
