Welcome to the 2007 Internet2 Member Report.

The coming year promises many new opportunities for Internet2 members. Building on our new governance structure, which includes a new membership category for regional networks and restructured Advisory Councils, elections for a new Board of Trustees are now underway and a community-driven strategic planning process is in progress. In addition, the advanced networking capabilities used and supported by the Internet2 community—such as new dynamic circuit networking, network performance measurement, and federated identity management—are poised for significant development. Of course, even as networking technologies at all layers evolve, Internet2 remains focused on supporting members in meeting the cyberinfrastructure challenge for communities such as high-energy physics, the health sciences, and arts & humanities.

This report is intended to provide a snapshot of some of the Internet2 community’s efforts and accomplishments during 2007. To learn more about these and other opportunities available through Internet2 membership, please send email to membership@internet2.edu.

The Internet2 community has been and remains connected by optimism about the possibilities new technologies hold for discovery and learning, and a shared enthusiasm for realizing them. I and the rest of the Internet2 staff look forward to continuing to supporting the community's efforts in the year ahead.

Sincerely,

Doug Van Houweling
President & CEO
