MAN LAN Fees

Ethernet Connections

Ethernet frame-based services are provided by a Cisco 6513 Ethernet switch that supports bandwidths at 1 and 10 GigE.

The Internet2 Network, also a project of Internet2, is a connector to MAN LAN through a 10GE LAN PHY link from its core router located elsewhere at 32 Avenue of the Americas. MAN LAN is the preferred means for peer networks to connect to Abilene in New York City and for direct peering between international & US based R&E networks without Internet2 Network COU restrictions.

The Ethernet switch at MAN LAN became operational in July of 2003. Connections are governed by the MAN LAN Connection Agreement. Networks wishing to connect to the Ethernet switch at MAN LAN may contact manlan@internet2.edu to obtain a copy of the Connectors' Agreement. Internet2 has established the following cost sharing fees for connection to the MAN LAN Ethernet switch. They are reviewed on an annual basis and are payable on a 12 month advance basis.

Ethernet Connection Fees
2008 Annual recurring fee: 1GigE $4,800
