Governance

Internet2 is a member-focused organization built on its community's expertise and leadership.

GovernanceOur Board of Trustees consists primarily of representatives from member organizations, including university presidents and CIOs, as well as leaders from industry and research. The member-focused board provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight. Following a nominations process, the presidents of Internet2 member universities elect members to the Board of Trustees for three-year terms.

Representing leaders from academia, research and industry, Internet2’s Advisory Councils provide strategic guidance, assist in setting organizational priorities, and ensure that Internet2 continues to meet the needs of the research and education community which it serves. As a member of an Internet2 Advisory Council, members are required to sign a statement of responsibility to ensure that reasonable care is exercised when decisions or recommendations are made on behalf of Internet2.
