Internet2 is a member-focused organization built on its community's expertise and leadership.
Our Board of Trustees consists primarily of representatives from members, including university presidents and CIOs, as well a leaders from industry and research. The member-focused Board provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight. Following a nominations process, the presidents of Internet2 member universities vote to elect members of the Board for three-year terms.
Representing leaders from academia, research, and industry, Internet2’s Advisory Councils provide strategic guidance, assist in setting organizational priorities, and ensure that Internet2 continues to meet the needs of the research and education community which it serves. As a member of an Internet2 Advisory Council, members are required to sign a statement of responsibility to ensure reasonable care when making decisions and recommendations on behalf of Internet2.
