Monitoring for DCN

Networks that interconnect in a Dynamic Circuit Network (DCN) framework support monitoring of links between networks, and provide access to that monitoring via perfSONAR Measurement Points (MPs). MPs provide information about the link being monitored and about the dynamic circuits that are carried on the link.

By looking at a link, one can find all the circuits running on that link. By looking at the circuit, one can find all the links running on that circuit.The ideal DCN global infrastructure has MPs on both sides of links between networks. There is a naming structure such that one can find all the links that carry all inter-domain segments of a particular circuit. The information about links and circuits, at a minimum, is whether the circuit is up.

For links where traffic information is available, such as most Ethernet interfaces, traffic is reported. For all links, the status (up or down) is reported, and other information is optionally reported.
