OSTN-Internet2 Film Festival

Film Festival 2007

The Open Student Television Network (OSTN) and Internet2 hosted the OSTN-Internet2 Film Festival, which showcased student work from the 2006-2007 school year over three nights of screenings from July 19 through July 21. The even took place at Cleveland State University during the Ingenuity Festival. Student directors and producers participating in the festival used Internet2 technologies to submit and screen their films for the festival. In doing so, the OSTN-Internet2 Film Festival demonstrated the true viability of Internet technology to deliver high quality digital entertainment.

Each night of the OSTN-Internet2 Film Festival focused on different areas of the OSTN Channel’s programming: short films, documentaries and student television shows. The screenings spotlighted select student work from institutions such as USC, Brown University, Duke University, the Asian Young Filmmakers Forum and the International Film School of Paris as well as work from Cleveland-area schools such as Oberlin College, John Carroll University and the University of Akron. The documentary screening also featured portions of OSTN’s first ever public service initiative, HBO’s “Addiction.”

Student Television Showcase: Saturday July 21 7-9PM
OSTN showcased the very best of their student television shows.

Birnkrant 616 (30:00) Executive Producers Logan Burdick and Jonathan Levine.  Birnkrant is “a show about life, love, and world domination.” There are two main groups of characters on the show: the “kids,” regular college-aged students trying to make it in this crazy world, and the “Nazis,” seemingly transplanted World War II Nazis that live next door in Birnkrant Residential Hall.  Produced by Trojan Vision at USC.

Something Else TV (SETV) (30:00) Executive Producer Luke Johnston.  SETV is a student run sketch comedy TV show loosely based on shows like Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, and The Chappelle Show.  Produced by Cardinal Vision 57 at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Akron After Hours (15:00)  Executive Producer Phil Hoffman.  Late night show wrapped in a college burrito with Monty Python sauce.  Add a parcel of SNL and a dash of Chappelle. Serve with Kids in the Hall and you’ll have yourself a recipe for laughter.   Produced by ZTV at the University of Akron.
