Agenda for 12/7/05

• Review of Agenda  - Agenda sent by Terri 11/29/05.  No changes.
• Merger Update  - Principles were sent to the ASC.  Cheryl said principles are open to discussion and feedback.   
• Review of Merger Principles
• Council Succession  - The nomination committee is considering a proposal  that current council members would continue to serve until the new governance structure is in place. 
• Updates from ASC Members  - Members spoke about recent SC2005 and asked  if there is an exciting application we can highlight.  IDEA award program is off and running.  We have been trying to focus on things in production that have made a difference and not just demos.  Desire to get Lecture Objects back into agenda and ASC discussions. 
• Update/Discussion of Ongoing ASC Agenda for Action - follow up to our in person meeting and revisiting our agenda for action and strategic plan document.   
• IDEA AWARD - judges panel ready to go. Looking for good projects that have transformed research, learning and teaching.  Challenge will be the extent to which we reward demonstrative transformational outcomes. Award committee has the latitude to give awards for various sectors. 
• Real Time Communication -  RTC is meeting and working on RTC architecture roadmap
• Teaching & Learning  - Group met two weeks ago and includes Marty Seigel, Jennifer Oxenford, Susan Topol, and Ann. Strong need to loop back to Member Meeting and those sub activities for which each are responsible
• Campus Expectations Task Force  - This is more within the scope of general ASC issues and heightened attention to research. 
• Updates from Internet2 Staff  - In Science and Engineering area - lots of projects popping up involving sensor networks.  NEON.  Can see where these projects may need help, but at slower speeds, wireless, tying into cyberinfrastructure.  Is this an area Internet2 wants to go into?  ASC gave ok to pursue.
