Ryan was born and raised in Connecticut and has lived there his entire life. He is the eldest of three boys. He obtained his undergraduate degree in computer science and his MBA from Southern Connecticut State University. He has spent the past twenty years of his career in the higher education sector, primarily in networking and security fields. When he is not at work he spends his time with wife Sonia and two children Alessandra and Devin. He truly enjoys the outdoors and spends time snowmobiling in the winter, boating and fishing in the summer, and doing many other outdoor activities. He also believes in giving back to the community through volunteering and donations.
How did you get involved in the field of advanced networking/technology?
I started in the field right out of college as a network administrator and worked my way from there. I always found the work engaging, the problems challenging, and the results rewarding. I decided to take the journey down this path and have never looked back.
What is your proudest accomplishment in the Internet2 community?
I am very new to the team and at this point I would have to say simply becoming a member of the community is exciting. I still find it amazing how well the community works together on various projects to accomplish the things they do, given all of the various players involved in each. It is a true testament to collaboration and everyone involved in the membership.
What is your favorite part of being a Senior Engineer, Network Analytics and Systems?
To date, I love being able to work with so many diverse people throughout the community who are interested the same things. While I have only been here a short time I have already learned so much from so many different people. It has been an exciting time in my career and I am looking forward to continuing this journey with the Internet2 community.
