2016 Dues Changes

In its August 5, 2015 meeting, the Internet2 Board of Trustees unanimously approved new 2016 Membership Dues for Higher Education Members.  Internet2 staff facilitated a number of webinars and communications on this topic the previous spring and also provided an update at the CIO meeting at the 2015 Global Summit. If you would like to review the materials shared on this topic or review the recordings of the two Spring 2015 webinars, please go to:

These changes in 2016 dues are the first since 2010 and the increase will help support TIER (Trust and Identity in Education and Research). The annual Higher Education Membership Dues rates that take effect on January 1, 2016 are:

Level Level Minimum for... 2016 Dues Change (+)
1 Carnegie Very High Research Activity $36,960 $3,360
2 Carnegie High Research Activity $35,112 $3,192
3 Spec-Med Carnegie Special Focus - Medical $33,264 $3,024
3 DRU Carnegie Doctoral Research $24,948 $2,268
3 Mas-L Carnegie Master’s - Large $19,958 $1,814
4 Others $11,000 $1,000

These changes affect Higher Education Membership Dues only; Network Participation Fees are not changing in 2016.

The changes take effect for most members for the normal annual calendar-year membership cycle beginning January 1, 2016. For those members with membership anniversary dates other than January 1, the changes will take effect on the 2016 anniversary date. Rates for members that are part of system memberships may differ due to system membership discounts. The new rates will be reflected in invoices for 2016 membership dues that will be sent later this year (2015) or just prior to mid-2016 anniversary dates.

As always, we greatly appreciate the leadership and input members provide to collectively determine, support and advance programmatic priorities.
